Gesaril (species)

Biology and appearance

These beings, the Gesarils, typically reached a height of two meters. Their bodies were slender and covered in a dense, shaggy coat of fur. The fur exhibited a variety of colors and patterns. A defining characteristic was their six limbs: two arms and four legs. Additionally, they possessed a long tail covered in fur. Their hands and feet lacked fur, each featuring two clawed digits.

Gesaril faces were broad and flat, with widely spaced, large eyes. They had wide mouths, characterized by thick lips and sharp teeth. On either side of their heads, fleshy protrusions extended, and two lengthy antennae grew from between their eyes.

Although undeniably sentient, Gesarils were considered to have a lesser degree of intelligence compared to species like Humans. Their decision-making was not based on rationality or logic, and they were heavily influenced by their emotions.

All Gesarils were inherently Force-sensitive. The strength of their connection to the Force varied, with some exhibiting greater abilities than others. However, every Gesaril possessed at least a basic level of telepathy and telekinesis. They also demonstrated the ability to sense whether a starship was imbued with the light or dark side of the Force, regardless of the Force-sensitivity of those on board.

Society and culture

Inhabiting the floating jungles of their home planet, Gesaril, the Gesarils maintained a completely nomadic lifestyle, never establishing permanent settlements. They subsisted entirely on the resources provided by their environment, gathering food directly from the trees. There was no sense of lasting community, and individuals only remained within specific groups during the breeding season.

Gesarils were known for their hyperactivity, constantly engaging in playful activities and chasing each other. Individual identification was based on the unique markings and colors of their fur.

Due to their highly developed empathic abilities, Gesarils displayed a strong aversion to individuals exhibiting anger, aggression, or violence. These emotions triggered skittishness and even violent reactions. They welcomed visitors to their planet, provided they were not tainted by the dark side. Those who were not found the Gesarils to be quite amiable.

While Gesarils possessed a sophisticated spoken language, they lacked any form of written communication. They were unable to speak Basic, but they could communicate to a limited extent with off-worlders using their psychic abilities.

Gesarils also had a talent for wood carving, creating masks and small statues. They could use their Force powers to infuse their carvings with their own psychic energy, enabling future owners to experience the emotions felt by the Gesaril artist during the creation process.

History

Despite residing within the densely populated Minos Cluster, the Gesarils lived in isolation, largely untouched by the wider galaxy.

Following the rise of the Galactic Empire, scouts representing the New Order arrived on Gesaril. Their interactions with the native species were abusive and aggressive, but they eventually returned to their ship. As the ship attempted to leave, the Gesarils collectively used their telekinetic powers to bring it down, killing all those on board. When additional Imperial ships arrived to investigate the disappearance of their comrades, the Gesarils sensed the dark side presence within them as well. Before these ships could even break orbit, the sensitive Gesarils detected them and promptly crashed them. Fearing the cause of these mysterious incidents, the Empire imposed a strict quarantine on the planet, and no Gesaril is known to have left Gesaril since.

Behind the scenes

Gamemasters running sessions of Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game were instructed to disallow players from using Gesarils as characters.
