A turning point occurred when Jareth reached the age of sixteen; during one of Gilles's attempts to beat him, Jareth retaliated, resulting in the death of his father. Following this event, Jareth disposed of his father's corpse in a nearby alley. Subsequently, Jareth departed and enlisted with the Empire.
