The Glottalphibs were a sentient species of reptilian beings native to the planet called Glottal.
Hailing from their homeworld of Glottal, the Glottalphibs were a sentient reptilian species. Although not technically amphibians, Glottalphibs felt most at home in aquatic environments. When deprived of water for extended periods, their scales would begin to shed, and their gills would become parched. This often gave them the appearance of struggling to breathe.
Glottalphibs possessed robust physiques, complete with two arms, two legs, and a tail. Each hand featured three clawed fingers and a thumb. Distinctive spikes protruded from the tops of their large heads, extending down their elongated necks and onto their backs. Their skin displayed a mottled pattern, while their faces were characterized by broad nostrils, diminutive eyes, and lengthy, pointed teeth that jutted out from the sides of their mouths.
The scales of this species were remarkably resilient, offering protection against blaster fire. The only way to injure a Glottalphib with a blaster was to target the inside of its open mouth. Furthermore, Glottalphibs had the ability to breathe fire in substantial quantities, capable of killing their adversaries. Other sentient life forms in the galaxy often drew comparisons between Glottalphibs and dragons. Reproduction occurred through the laying of unfertilized eggs by females, which were subsequently fertilized by males.
Watumba bats, a creature found on their planet, were considered a delicacy by Glottalphibs, who cultivated them in subterranean caverns. However, the bats posed a danger to Glottalphibs, as they were known to be attracted to and consume fire. If a Glottalphib, in a fit of rage, were to breathe fire in the presence of watumba bats, the bats were known to fly directly into the Glottalphib's throat, causing fatal choking.
Glottalphibs also consumed garbage snipes, Parfue gnats, Eilnian sweet flies, and the eggs of cavers.
One particularly noteworthy Glottalphib was Nandreeson, a crime lord who established his base on Skip 6, an asteroid situated on the Smuggler's Run. Nandreeson was a long-standing adversary of the renowned gambler, Lando Calrissian, and managed to capture his old enemy in 17 ABY. Han Solo and Chewbacca, prominent members of the New Republic, intervened to rescue Calrissian, resulting in the deaths of Nandreeson and many of his Glottalphib employees during the ensuing conflict.
