Gontzol system

The Gontzol system existed in the Southern Core region of the Colonies. It served as the native habitat for the creatures called keyns.

Not long after the Battle of Yavin, Imperial Intelligence mentioned the Gontzol system within a report created for an Imperial Grand Moff. This report was subsequently incorporated by Rebel Alliance historian Major Arhul Hextrophon into a compilation of Imperial documents. This compilation was intended for Alliance Supreme Commander Mon Mothma and other Rebel officers.

Behind the scenes

The 1989 Imperial Sourcebook, authored by Greg Gorden for West End Games' Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game, provided the first mention of the Gontzol system. A 1990 roleplaying game source article titled "Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star, How I Wonder Where We Are," featured in Voyages SF 13, situated the system within the Nembus sector. Given that the article's publication occurred outside the purview of the Lucas Licensing process, its canonicity within the Star Wars Legends continuity remained unconfirmed. Instead, the 2009 reference book The Essential Atlas positioned the Gontzol system in grid square L-13. The StarWars.com Online Companion to the book further clarified this location as being outside the Nembus sector of the Outer Rim Territories.
