The Goroth system was a double star system that resided in the Trans-Nebular sector of the Mid Rim region.
Found within the Trans-Nebular Zone of the Trans-Nebular sector, the Goroth system was just one of a dozen systems there. Travel was made difficult by the Vestor Pulsar, which rendered the entire region a hyperspace "dead zone". Typically, the system required jumps of two or three legs to reach. Starting from the Perlemian Trade Route, Goroth could be accessed via a three-leg trip lasting twelve days, or a faster, more perilous two-leg jump completed in ten days. The nearest system was the Baylin Cluster, a 14-hour journey, while the sector's capital, Milarian, was 22 hours away.
The system contained two suns: Goroth Alpha, a typical, main-sequence star that appears red-orange, and is most often called "the sun" or "K'Len" by the local Gorothites. The other star was Goroth Beta, a brown dwarf located at the furthest orbital position. There were four planets in the system, with Goroth Prime being the only one to develop sentient life.
Orbiting at 7.1 light minutes, this planet was the only one in the system inhabited by sentient beings. It was once a pleasant terrestrial world accompanied by three moons. The indigenous Gorothites evolved relatively late and joined the Old Republic around 7,500 BBY. During the Corellian/Aqualish war around 4000 BBY, Goroth was devastated when the Gorothites attempted to manipulate both sides. Presumed to be a volcanic wasteland for millennia afterward, the planet was rediscovered during the era of the Galactic Empire.
Deneva, a gas giant with a perihelion orbit of 40.7 light minutes, possessed a low density and a small, solid core. The planet was home to non-sentient, gasbag-like creatures that fed on the organic compounds present in the atmosphere. Deneva's strong magnetic field, combined with its closest moon, generated a hazardous ionic storm.
The other gas giant in the system, Denbalen, shared a similar appearance to Deneva but had a higher density and lacked magnetic fields. It orbited the sun at a distance of 67.2 light minutes. Despite being smaller than Deneva, Denbalen had a larger core, nearly the size of Goroth Prime. One of its moons, P'Check, contained the ruins of a long-extinct civilization.
