Trans-Nebular sector

The Trans-Nebular sector, a region of space, existed within the Mid Rim and is classified as a sector according to established galactic cartography. Its designation stems from the presence of a significant nebula contained within its boundaries.

Astrography

This sector, situated on the Mid Rim's outer fringes, shares borders with the Dufilvian, Herdessa, and Daimar sectors on its Middle Rim-adjacent side. Conversely, the Grohl, Arkanis, and Savareen sectors define its boundary along the Outer Rim.

The name of the sector comes from the Trans-Nebular Zone, its most prominent feature. It encompasses more than a dozen star systems, notably the Goroth system and the Vestor Nebula, the namesake of the Zone. At the heart of the Nebula lies the Vestor Pulsar, a relatively stable Neutron star. This pulsar acts as a navigational aid, but the nebula itself creates a hyperspace "dead zone".

The sector is home to approximately eighty stars and is situated roughly 10 parsecs inside the Mid Rim's defined limits. Notable planets within the sector include Milarian, the Baylin Cluster, and Goroth Prime. Navigating hyperspace routes to systems within the nebula presents significant risks and complexities, frequently requiring multiple jumps.

History

The hazardous nature of the Trans-Nebular Zone made scouting expeditions into the region particularly challenging. Over time, numerous scouting and survey ships were lost due to interference from the pulsar. Consequently, the planets and civilizations within the Zone were discovered relatively late in galactic history.

Around 4000 BBY, the sector saw colonization efforts by both Corellians and exiled Aqualish pilgrims known as the Barralenal. Both groups displayed expansionist tendencies, leading to inevitable conflict. At the time, the Old Republic Governor Matri Bey oversaw the sector. Despite her bureaucratic skills, she could not prevent the escalation of tensions into the Corellian/Aqualish war. This conflict compelled several neutral planets to choose sides, with the exception of Goroth, which successfully maintained its neutrality.

During the reign of the Galactic Empire, the sector was initially governed by a Moff who later betrayed the Empire, followed by Moff Nebin Cray after the former's execution. Cray was eventually succeeded by Moff Gal Brello. Between 2 BBY and 4 ABY, reports of Rebel activity surfaced within the sector. Following the Battle of Endor, the Trans-Nebular sector was likely among the first regions to overthrow Imperial authority.
