The Grohl sector existed as a sector situated within the Outer Rim regions of the galaxy. Positioned close to the Triellus Trade Route, the Grohl sector served as a habitat for sentient species including the Felacatians and also the Porporites. Notable locations within this sector encompassed Sucharme, Korseg IV, Hikil, and in addition, the Koiogra system.
In the initial stages of the Grohl sector's history, the Hutt Cartel maintained command.
Subsequently, the sector evolved into a critical point during a galaxy-wide dispute. This occurred when the Porporites, a sentient species indigenous to the Grohl sector's Porpor system, developed widespread addictions to ryll spice introduced by Neimoidian traders. This substance caused violent tendencies in the once-peaceful Porporites, who then initiated raids on neighboring star systems. Around 4800 BBY, the Neimoidians employed Gank mercenaries as a countermeasure, which led to the extermination of the Porporites. The Gank mercenaries prolonged their attacks, escalating to a full-blown war against the entire Galactic Republic. By 4775 BBY, the Gank Massacres were brought to an end when the Jedi Order ultimately triumphed over the Ganks.
During the era known as the Republic Dark Age, the Brotherhood of Darkness exerted control over the sector.
Following its return to the Republic's jurisdiction, the Trade Federation, largely influenced by Neimoidians, gained considerable power within the sector. By the time of the Battle of Naboo, the Federation held a controlling stake in the agricultural corporations of the planet Sucharme. Under the Federation's dominion, Sucharme's economic stability was undermined as the Neimoidian organization transformed the planet into a raw material exporter, serving other Federation-controlled worlds. Local demonstrations on Sucharme resulted in a comprehensive invasion conducted by the Federation's military forces.
The Grohl Sector Defense Force responded by expelling the Federation forces from Sucharme, after having previously combatted pirates in the sector's rimward regions and resolving a civil war on Ostega. Furthermore, the Grohl Liberation Front was established, initiating a campaign of sabotage targeting the Trade Federation. One Defense Force officer, Major Kligson, relinquished his position to become a member of the Grohl Liberation Front.
The Clone Wars saw substantial conflict within the Grohl sector, leading to the area being strewn with inactive Confederacy of Independent Systems warships and battle droids following the Separatist defeat. However, the newly established Galactic Empire did not bring liberation to the sector. The Empire dispatched an invading force composed of clone troopers who had transitioned into stormtroopers to Sucharme. They were instructed to eliminate planetary leaders and nationalize the planet's commercial activities. Kligson, a celebrated figure in the Grohl sector who had previously served the Republic as a captain within its Grand Army, was shot by his own troops when he attempted to revoke their directives. Saved by Liberation Front operatives and reconstructed as a cyborg, Kligson briefly spearheaded guerrilla operations against the Empire from the space station known as Kligson's Moon. However, within a few months, Kligson and his space station departed from the sector.
During the Galactic Civil War, the Grohl sector became a battleground between the Galactic Empire and the Alliance to Restore the Republic. Alliance Intelligence agents Diskio and K'lial Khzrry, a Xi'Dec couple, were active in the region. Furthermore, the Battle of Korseg IV transpired within the sector.
In subsequent years, Darth Krayt's Galactic Empire assumed control over the sector.
