Griffax Jin, a distinguished virologist, served as a physician during the Galactic Civil War period.

Following the Battle of Yavin, Jin became part of the Galactic Empire's science division. He was stationed at the Imperial Research and Prison Facility located on the planet Dathomir. Within this facility, clandestine scientific investigations were underway, aiming to repurpose the infamous Blackwing virus into a bioweapon. Dr. Jin worked as the primary virologist in the cryogenics laboratory situated on level 2 of the research complex. In 1 ABY, Griffax Jin was present when an incident occurred at the Imperial Research and Prison Facility. The escaped virus breached containment. Most of the people in the area perished, only to be transformed into undead beings. Dr. Jin survived the initial outbreak, but he was infected. Later, a group of spacers, while searching for a sample of the original virus, discovered Griffax Jin in his laboratory. They questioned Jin, but the scientist showed no willingness to assist them, believing that both the virus and the research facility should be destroyed. Ultimately, Griffax Jin succumbed to the virus and transformed into a zombie, attacking the spacers who were forced to defend themselves, resulting in the death of the undead scientist. The spacers eventually located the virus they sought in Dr. Jin's lab.
Griffax Jin made an appearance in the 2003 video game Star Wars Galaxies. This was a massively multiplayer online roleplaying game that was created by Sony Online Entertainment and distributed by LucasArts. The game was shut down on December 15, 2011. Griffax Jin was introduced to the game through "Game Update 14," also known as the "Death Troopers" update, which was released on October 12, 2009.
