Grigmin

Grigmin, a Human male, was a stunt pilot of note during the Galactic Civil War era. He ran a barnstorming company known as Grigmin's Traveling Airshow. Many individuals, including the Corellian smuggler Han Solo, who briefly served as Grigmin's pit crew in 2 BBY, considered Grigmin to be extremely conceited. Their frequent disagreements led Solo to ultimately abandon his position by outperforming Grigmin during a show on the planet Saheelindeel.

Biography

During the time of the Galactic Civil War, Grigmin, a Human male, gained notoriety as a skilled stunt pilot. This career path followed his heavyweight championship victory in hand-to-hand combat. After his fighting career ended, Grigmin took his aerial talents on tour, managing a barnstorming enterprise called Grigmin's Traveling Airshow. Grigmin primarily operated on remote worlds, impressing the local populations with aerial maneuvers performed in a variety of outdated aircraft. These included a cumbersome, aged airspeeder, a jetpack, and an X-222 high-altitude fighter which he used for his spectacular finale.

In 2 BBY, Han Solo and Chewbacca, a pair of smugglers, were hired by Grigmin to work as his pit crew. Grigmin and Solo often clashed because of Grigmin's arrogance and his tendency to overwork his speeder, concerns that Grigmin consistently disregarded. Tensions reached a breaking point with Solo during a visit to the obscure world of Saheelindeel, where Grigmin's stunts drew a large audience of native Saheelindeeli. While repairing Grigmin's airspeeder, Solo received a tempting job offer to transport educational materials to a university on Brigia, providing him with the opportunity he had been awaiting to leave Grigmin's employment. Before departing, Solo, wanting to get back at Grigmin, borrowed a makeshift barge from an acquaintance and overshadowed Grigmin during his final act, greatly angering Grigmin with his demonstration of superior piloting skills.

Personality and traits

Grigmin, a tall, broad-shouldered, and attractive man, was widely perceived as an irritatingly arrogant individual, particularly by Han Solo, who felt that Grigmin greatly overestimated his own piloting abilities. Furthermore, many of his employees and associates considered him to be unreliable when it came to finances; although he did pay his dues, he wasn't always consistent. Grigmin believed himself to be superior to the locals he entertained with his aerial stunts, bolstering his domineering demeanor with the assurance that his expertise in unarmed combat would deter most people from challenging him physically.

Behind the scenes

The character of Grigmin made his debut in Han Solo and the Lost Legacy, a novel penned by Brian Daley and published in 1980.
