The purpose of this expedition was the investigation of an artifact discovered on Tatooine, which turned out to be a Rakatan mind prison containing The Imprisoned One. Upon the relic's activation, The Imprisoned One proceeded to eliminate and enslave the majority of the base's staff. Grommik, along with other surviving employees, received directives from their superiors to isolate the possessed individuals within the facility. As the last one to exit, Grommik himself sealed the doors and left a holorecording behind, intended as a warning to anyone who might discover the base, urging them to stay away. Subsequently, he established a moisture farm on Tatooine, choosing a life of solitude in its arid landscapes.
While residing on the desert world, Grommik crossed paths with a Republic spacer who lent a hand in repairing his malfunctioning equipment. In return, he offered information concerning the secret base. However, just as the repairs were completed, Gayem Leksende, a renegade Czerka operative, materialized via hologram, asserting responsibility for sabotaging his equipment. Her intention was to draw potential intruders to him. Following this, Gayem's airship initiated a bombardment of Grommik's farm and deployed assassin droids with the mission of eliminating the occupants. Grommik guided the spacer to his secure room, ensuring their survival during the bombardment. With Gayem assuming they would succumb to asphyxiation, Grommik then unveiled his concealed escape tunnel. Subsequently, he furnished the hero with the locations of the data caches necessary to uncover the secret base.
