GX-9 Pretormin vaporator

The GX-9 Pretormin vaporator, a moisture vaporator, was created by Pretormin Environmental during the final years of the Galactic Republic. During the six years prior to the Great Jedi Purge, the agriculturalist Orrin Gault put his money into a number of Pretormin vaporator systems, with the intention of generating palatable water. Despite his efforts, Gault could not determine the correct formula for palatable water, and the vaporators instead yielded water with a bitter taste.

Because Gault's investment was unsuccessful, he accumulated significant debt to financial institutions and was compelled to seek funds from Jabba the Hutt. In an effort to settle his financial obligations, Gault initiated an extortion scheme called the Settlers' Call Fund, which was ostensibly designed to protect colonists from Tusken Raiders. Gault and his relatives also orchestrated deceptive attacks, which they falsely blamed on the Tuskens. Under increasing pressure from Jabba's agents, Gault planned to wed entrepreneur Annileen Calwell with the objective of seizing her wealth to resolve his debts. However, Calwell discovered his duplicity and allied herself with Obi-Wan Kenobi, A'Yark's Tusken tribe, and Jabba's enforcers to reveal Gault's deceit and transgressions.
