H'kig

The religious group known as the H'kig centered their beliefs around the doctrines of H'kig.

On the planet Galand, H'kig disseminated a philosophy emphasizing a basic lifestyle, strong ethics, virtue, and inclusivity, as well as rules concerning diet, personal hygiene, and the operation of repulsorcraft. This message attracted a large following but also provoked the hostility of the Galand ruling class. H'kig's execution, sanctioned by the Galand viceroy, resulted in his martyrdom and triggered a mass departure of his adherents. These followers, adopting the name H'kig in remembrance of their deceased leader, acquired a pair of colony vessels and escaped Galand. In the year 60 BBY, the H'kig reached Rishi, where they founded a theocracy rooted in H'kig's teachings. However, even the tolerant practices of the H'kig had limitations, as evidenced by a schism that led to a breakaway faction establishing a new H'kig settlement on J't'p'tan, located within the Koornacht Cluster.

Most H'kig devotees and clergy were of Galandan descent, yet the sect welcomed adherents from all species.

The core tenets of H'kig faith were embodied by Jeh, signifying "the imminent", teh, denoting "the transcendent", and peh, representing "the eternal". These concepts were deemed too sacred for complete written expression and were instead represented by glyphs.

By the time the Battle of Endor occurred, the H'kig population on Rishi had grown to 2 billion, primarily engaged in mining or fuel processing.

It is believed that they produced H'kig chimes.
