H'kig

The H'kig were a religious group whose foundations rested upon the doctrines of H'kig.

On the planet Galand, H'kig disseminated a doctrine emphasizing the importance of an uncomplicated existence, elevated ethical standards, virtue, and inclusivity, along with regulations pertaining to diet, personal hygiene, and the operation of repulsorcraft. This message attracted a large following, but also provoked the animosity of Galand's royal family. H'kig's execution, mandated by the Galand viceroy, resulted in his martyrdom and triggered a mass departure of his adherents. These followers, adopting the name H'kig in remembrance of their deceased leader, procured a pair of colony vessels and escaped Galand. In 60 BBY, the H'kig reached Rishi, where they instituted a theocracy grounded in H'kig's principles. However, the H'kig's tolerant nature was not without its imperfections, evidenced by a schism that led to a faction departing Rishi due to a disagreement over doctrine, subsequently establishing a new H'kig settlement on J't'p'tan, situated within the Koornacht Cluster.

The majority of the H'kig's followers and clergy were of Galandan descent, although the sect welcomed adherents from all species.

Jeh, referred to as "the imminent", teh, known as "the transcendent", and peh, designated as "the eternal" constituted the three fundamental elements of the H'kig's belief system. These concepts, deemed too sacred for complete written expression, were represented by symbols.

By the time the Battle of Endor occurred, their population on Rishi had grown to two billion, engaged in activities such as mining and fuel processing.

Presumably, they were the creators of H'kig chimes.
