Hall of Satabs

Han Solo and Chrysalla are seen observing the Satabs' Hall. The Hall of Satabs functioned as a nullification chamber and served as a burial site for the Satabs hailing from Ventooine. Upon entering this hall, individuals were instantly subjected to suspended animation. Its purpose was to neutralize the effects of the Satab regalia, known as the shadeshine. This artifact, upon contact, drastically amplified one's senses, granting the Satab exceptional abilities. However, this enhancement eventually led to sensory overload, overwhelming the individual's body and mind. While the stone's owner could delay this effect for roughly a standard year, its fatal consequences were ultimately unavoidable. Near the end of this period, the current Satab would transfer the stone to their successor, selected from Ventooine's population, and then enter the Hall.

The expectation was that a remedy for the shadeshine's effects would eventually be discovered, leading to the Hall of Satabs' eventual decommissioning. Yet, by the peak of the Galactic Civil War, the Hall remained in operation, housing numerous former Satabs. During this era, a local resistance, spearheaded by Rov Vetter Piin, successfully overthrew the Satabs' rule. The reigning Satab at the time was prevented from accessing the chamber and met their end by incineration caused by the shadeshine. Subsequently, Chrysalla, the stone's new owner, promptly entered the Hall of Satabs to neutralize the shadeshine's potent influence on Ventooine.

Around 3 ABY, when Luke Skywalker and Lando Calrissian arrived on the planet, the chamber was still preserved as a historical relic. Luke and Lando managed to deceive a group of stormtroopers into entering the chamber, inducing suspended animation and facilitating the Rebels' escape.
