The battle droids referred to as the hands of doom were manufactured at the Neimoidian droid factory situated on Mustafar. Their purpose was to protect the droid called the Doom Bringer, the primary defender of that factory. During the era of the Galactic Civil War, a band of spacers annihilated the Doom Bringer and its hands, subsequently disabling the factory responsible for supplying battle droids to HK-47.
