Harles

Harles held the position of commander within Garrison Company 125a of the Imperial Army.

Biography

This male Human named Harles served as a commander in the Imperial Army's Garrison Company 125a, which was stationed on the planet of Gaulus. After a secret base utilized by the Alliance to Restore the Republic had its location disclosed to the Galactic Empire via an espionage droid disguised as a 3PO-series protocol droid, Imperial forces launched an assault on the facility. Harles was given the responsibility of safeguarding the technicians who were dispatched into the base following the initial attack. He felt excitement at the prospect of acquiring relatively undamaged T-65 X-wing starfighters, along with standard land and airspeeders, for potential use in patrol operations. During his inspection, Harles stumbled upon an injured female Alliance officer. He initially considered summoning a medic, but then realized that she would only be healed for interrogation and subsequent execution; he chose to let her die peacefully.

Continuing his survey, Harles discovered numerous deceased individuals, some of whom were young, and others whose bodies appeared to have been deliberately mutilated after death. As he progressed through the base, he became increasingly disgusted and remorseful. Upon reaching the main power generator, he encountered a lone surviving Rebel, a girl who appeared to be no older than sixteen, preparing the generator for detonation. Harles aimed his blaster at her, and she responded with a hateful glare from her eyes. Overwhelmed by the horrors he had witnessed, he began to tremble and lowered his blaster, instructing her to finish her task. Despite her initial distrust, she completed the preparations and informed him that they had three minutes to evacuate the base.

Harles transmitted a code black message to his unit, alerting them to the imminent explosion and his intention to attempt to prevent it. He inquired if the girl knew of an escape route from the base, and she revealed a concealed corridor. As Harles prepared to follow her, he recalled the wounded officer. Instructing the girl to proceed, he returned to the injured officer and carried her out of the base. The power generator detonated before Harles could completely escape; his uniform and hair caught fire, but his body shielded the officer from the full force of the blast. Staggering towards the location where the girl had a repulsorcraft waiting, he and the officer—who was revealed to be the girl's mother—were helped in by the teenager, who then drove them away from the base.

Harles then switched his allegiance to the Alliance, assuming command of damaged brigades and playing a key role in their transformation into the core of the Alliance Special Forces.

Personality and traits

Harles held the courage and bravery displayed by Rebel soldiers in high regard, a sentiment he once voiced aloud. This comment led to a reprimand, and he believed that it had effectively ended any possibility of future promotions. Following this incident, Harles resolved to keep his opinions on the matter to himself. He also viewed warfare against women as a dishonorable act, although he conceded that they often possessed greater intelligence and resilience than some men.
