Hesoc

Hesoc was a male pilot of starfighters, operating within the Alliance Starfighter Corps during the Galactic Civil War. Piloting a T-65 X-wing starfighter, his exceptional abilities in the cockpit led to the moniker "Hotshot Hesoc." During the Matacorn campaign, Hesoc impressively downed twenty-two enemy craft, marking each as confirmed kills. However, a TIE interceptor caught him during a Tallon Roll. Although his X-wing sustained heavy damage, he successfully made it back to base. The attack severely injured his right leg, necessitating its amputation and replacement with a cybernetic prosthesis. Officially deemed unfit for flight duty, Hesoc vehemently opposed a training assignment and instead directly petitioned his Sector Commander, General Lesilk, for reinstatement. His argument centered on the idea that his prosthetic leg would actually decrease his reaction time during scramble alerts, as he would already be partially dressed. General Lesilk conceded to his request, allowing Hesoc to return to his squadron.

Biography

During the Galactic Civil War, Hesoc served the Alliance to Restore the Republic's Starfighter Corps as a male starfighter pilot. He flew an T-65 X-wing starfighter within a squadron under the command of General Lesilk in his Sector Force. Widely regarded as a superb pilot, rumors circulated that Hesoc consistently altered the enlistment date on his official records to extend his tour of duty. He was commonly known as "Hotshot Hesoc" throughout his service.

Hesoc participated in the Matacorn campaign, where he accumulated a kill count consisting of eighteen TIE starfighters and four TIE bombers. However, while in combat with a TIE interceptor, Hesoc's starfighter suffered significant damage when the Imperial pilot caught him in the middle of a Tallon Roll. Although Hesoc managed to bring the damaged X-wing back to base, his right leg was severely injured during the TIE interceptor's attack. The damage necessitated its removal and replacement with a cybernetic prosthesis.

Following such an injury, Alliance pilots were typically grounded and assigned to training roles. Hesoc made his disapproval of this outcome clear to his superiors, appealing directly to Sector Commander General Lesilk. In his appeal, Hesoc argued that his cybernetic leg was actually an advantage, suggesting that he could reach his starfighter more rapidly than other pilots during an emergency because he would already have one sock and boot on. Lesilk, stating that he could not refute "irrefutable logic," granted Hesoc's request, allowing him to return to flight status and rejoin his squadron.

Personality and traits

His peers and colleagues considered Hesoc to be a very skilled pilot, a quality that resulted in his nickname "Hotshot." He had a deep love for flying and was willing to go to great lengths to remain in the cockpit instead of being transferred to a non-combat position, such as appealing his grounding after sustaining an injury during the Matacorn campaign.

Behind the scenes

Hesoc's character appeared in the short text piece titled "Irrefutable Logic", which was included in the Heroes & Rogues sourcebook released by West End Games in 1995.
