Devices known as Holo-scribers had a purpose in the creation of fraudulent identification documents. In approximately 5 BBY to 4 BBY, the smuggler Han Solo employed a Tsyklen forger located on the planet Nar Hekka to fabricate false IDs for both himself and Chewbacca, his Wookiee companion; this she accomplished using holo-scribers. The Tsyklen's dexterity, a trait common to her species due to their seven-fingered, two-thumbed hands, allowed her to operate two holo-scribers simultaneously.
The 1997 novel The Hutt Gambit, the second installment of The Han Solo Trilogy authored by A. C. Crispin, references holo-scribers.
