Huey was a dewback of the male variety, and he served as a pet for Luke Skywalker and Windy Starkiller during their childhood. He possessed a friendly and playful nature, bringing considerable joy to the two boys. One morning, Huey began butting against the enclosure gate, creating a disturbance. This noise roused Windy and his father from their sleep. Windy was puzzled by Huey's desire to escape, considering he received ample food and care. Windy's father, recognizing it was mating season, proposed allowing Huey to roam the Jundland Wastes in search of a partner. Windy initially resisted this idea, fearing Huey would become lost and unable to return. Nevertheless, he ultimately found the resolve to release Huey into the wilderness.
Years passed, and Luke recounted this tale to his nephew, Jacen Solo, who was experiencing a similar situation with his rock lizard. Inspired by the narrative, Jacen set his rock lizard free into the wild. After some time, it came back, carrying an egg sack.
Some weeks later, Huey made his way back. A fortnight after his return to the homestead, Windy and Luke, in a display of youthful defiance, sought to demonstrate their independence to a group of local children. They ventured into the Wastes, accompanied by their dewback. Regrettably, Huey met his demise, consumed by a krayt dragon during this expedition. Windy and Skywalker would have also perished had Ben Kenobi not intervened to save them.
