Windy Starkiller, also known as Windom Marstrap, was a male Human from the Legends continuity. He was a childhood companion of Luke Skywalker during Luke's time on Tatooine, and they frequently spent time together at Tosche Station.

A Human male, Windy Starkiller was born on the desert planet of Tatooine circa 19 BBY, around the same time as Luke Skywalker. His parents were local inhabitants of the planet.
Deak, a constant presence, was often seen following Windy around Anchorhead. Biggs Darklighter, another Tatooine local, once described Windy as "a follower" and Deak as "a follower of a follower."

Luke's aunt and uncle at the Lars homestead were occasionally visited by Windy's parents. An incident occurred when Luke and Windy, at the age of thirteen, became lost in the desert and encountered a Krayt dragon. They were saved by Obi-Wan Kenobi, known to them only as the hermit Ben Kenobi. After the Jedi brought Windy and Luke back to the Lars homestead, Owen angrily dismissed Kenobi.
Windy and Deak were there when Gorm Maldorf, a local boaster, challenged Luke to a speeder race at The Cage. Windy cautioned Luke about Maldorf's dangerous nature, but Luke accepted the challenge. The morning of the race, Gorm was discovered dead in The Cage, having been strangled. Luke, with the help of Windy and Deak in his escape, investigated the death and concluded that Gorm had accidentally died while attempting to sabotage the race the previous night.

As teenagers, Windy and his friends, including Biggs Darklighter, Janek "Tank" Sunber, Laze "Fixer" Loneozner, and his girlfriend Camie, spent their time at Tosche Station in Anchorhead, racing their skyhoppers for recreation.
When Biggs gained acceptance into the Imperial Academy, his friends and other locals organized a celebration that was interrupted by an attack from Sand people.
Windy often acted as a counterpoint to Luke's aspirations of leaving Tatooine to join the Academy. On one occasion, after Windy found Luke repeatedly watching a Space Academy Recruitment tape, he suggested that Luke should mature and be content with the life of a moisture farmer.

Shortly before the Tantive IV was seized by Darth Vader above Tatooine, Luke challenged Fixer to a perilous skyhopper race through Beggar's Canyon and the eye of the Stone Needle. Windy accompanied Luke during the race, expressing fear throughout. He deemed Skywalker's flying "crazy" due to its recklessness.
On the morning Biggs revealed his intentions to join the Rebel Alliance to Luke, Windy was present. Windy, along with their other friends, expressed disbelief that Luke had witnessed a firefight in the skies above Tatooine. Soon after, Luke departed and later participated in the Battle of Yavin. Months later, Windy encountered Luke again when the Rebel briefly returned to Tatooine while evading X-7.
Over a year after the Battle of Yavin, Windy remained in Anchorhead. There, he hired a spacer to locate Blix Lanister, a wanted murderer who had fled the town.

The spacer agreed to the task and quickly found Blix. Upon Blix's return to Windy, the spacer received 30 credits as payment. Windy even suggested that the spacer consider a career as a security officer. However, the situation with Blix did not end there. Windy also wanted the spacer to find Gleezwuq, a Rodian gang member of Blix's. Gleezwuq was the only member of Blix's gang whose whereabouts Windy did not know. He was sure that Gleezwuq would have evidence which would implicate Blix in his murder of Alita Sweetwater.
The spacer located and killed the Rodian gang member. Gleezwuq possessed the same blaster that Blix had used to murder Alita. The spacer returned the blaster to Windy, who was impressed and certain that Blix could be brought to justice. The spacer was awarded another 30 credits. However, soon after the evidence was brought to Windy, Blix's accomplices arrived in town and helped Blix escape Anchorhead. Windy gave the spacer one final task: to find Blix and his cronies. Windy believed that Blix would not allow himself to be taken alive again and instructed the spacer to do whatever was necessary. Ultimately, the spacer found Blix and killed him and the other thugs. Following the successful operation, Windy awarded the spacer 100 credits. Sometime after this event, Windy departed from Anchorhead.

Windy is briefly visible in the background of the Tosche Station scene that was cut from A New Hope, playing a game with Biggs and Deak. It is unclear which of the two men is Windy and which is Deak. The scene is included in the Blu-Ray release of the film. His character receives more development in the Star Wars radio drama, where he is given several lines of dialogue.
Andrew Chaikin voiced Windy in a short appearance in a training level of the video game Star Wars: Rogue Squadron III: Rebel Strike.
In the initial version of Luke Skywalker's Walkabout, the character is referred to as both Windom Starkiller and Windy Marstrap. It is implied that Windy is a shortened version of Windom. Leland Chee has confirmed that his last name is Marstrap in the Holocron continuity database. However, in the colored reprint for Star Wars: Luke Skywalker, Last Hope for the Galaxy, Windy's last name has been corrected to Starkiller in both instances. Adding to the confusion, an action figure released by Hasbro in 2010 gave Windy's friend Camie the last name "Marstrap."
Adventure in Beggar's Canyon and Luke Skywalker's Walkabout were inspired by a single line of dialogue from Luke in the Star Wars radio drama. The two stories present different versions of the same basic plot.
In "Luke Skywalker: Detective," the artist depicts Windy and Deak as nearly identical, making it impossible to distinguish between the two characters.

In the MMORPG Star Wars Galaxies, Windy, named Windom Starkiller, appeared as a Non-Player Character (NPC) inside a tent in Anchorhead. Players undertaking a series of quests for Windy were tasked with escorting Blix Lanister to Anchorhead, eliminating Gleezwuq outside town, and then killing Lanister after he escaped from Anchorhead. The quests revolved around implicating Blix Lanister in the murder of Alita Sweetwater. During the second quest, Windom Starkiller would request that the player refer to him as "Windy." In the game, Windy had blond hair and brown eyes. For reasons that remain unclear, Windy was removed from Star Wars Galaxies less than a year after its initial release, during Publish 6 on February 11, 2004. Although players had the option to decline Windy's quests, this article assumes complete game completion.
In the book Luke's Fate by Jim Thomas, Windy is portrayed as a young girl, a departure from his typical male representation and pronouns.
"Windy" was a character name used in early drafts of the Star Wars script. The earliest version of Windy was as "Mace Windy," a Jedi, in the Journal of the Whills, Part I. In the rough draft, Windy becomes the son of King Kayos and the brother of Biggs and Leia. In the second draft, Windy and Biggs, his twin, are younger brothers of Luke Starkiller. They are removed from Luke's family in the third draft, where they become Luke's friends at the power station for the first time.
