Hyllyard City, the primary commercial center and largest settlement on Myrkr, was a modest frontier town, furthermore, it was the capital city of the planet.
Situated on the border of a forest, Hyllyard City was the sole population center for over one hundred kilometers in every direction, accessible across the planet's plains. Being a frontier port, Hyllyard was comprised of several starship landing pits and numerous improvised buildings that housed the planet's inhabitants. Its compact houses and commercial structures were packed closely together along narrow streets, while a number of broader avenues extended from the town's central point, resembling the spokes of a wheel. At the heart of the town was an open village square, a fifteen-meter area distinguished by a sizable, gray archway that stood ten meters tall.
Colonization of Hyllyard occurred near the conclusion of the Galactic Civil War. Despite its relative unpopularity, it continued to be the planet's main hub of activity, housing a comparatively small number of settlers. The inconspicuous port town evolved into a refuge for smugglers, traders, and other dissatisfied individuals, including those evading the law.
Grand Admiral Thrawn's troops occupied Hyllyard five years following the Battle of Endor, during the New Republic era. The city served as a sanctuary until the Yuuzhan Vong War, at which point Yuuzhan Vong forces conquered and devastated Myrkr.
