Hyperspace pods, which are also referred to as hyperdrive pods, pod ships, or probot pods, were disposable pods designed to transport probe droids through hyperspace to specified locations. These pods, built primarily with a robust hyperdrive unit and a sublight engine, were encased in a protective shell equipped with an array of sensors. Their design allowed for rapid descent, simulating the impact of a crashing meteorite to remain undetected. The probe droid, safely secured within the pod with its arms retracted, was connected via an umbilical cord to monitor the transport's condition and position. Before the pod touched down, the umbilical was detached to safeguard the droid from any potential damage during landing. A specialized variant, the X3-13s, served as hyperdrive pods specifically engineered to deploy E-XD-series infiltrator droids.
