IG lancer droid

These towering, slender battle droids were engineered with a physical resemblance to their Muun originators. Furthermore, they exhibited superior capabilities compared to the standard B1-Series battle droids from Baktoid that the Trade Federation employed. Their armament consisted of massive energy lances along with anti-vehicle mines, and they engaged in combat while mounted on swoop bikes.

Phlut Design Systems, a weapons development enterprise situated on Muunilinst, spearheaded their development. This company secured a substantial capital investment loan from the InterGalactic Banking Clan to finance a clandestine battle droid initiative intended for sale to the Trade Federation. Upon PDS's inability to reimburse the InterGalactic Banking Clan, the IBC reacted by confiscating the company's assets and incorporating the battle droids into the military forces of the Confederacy of Independent Systems. As assets of the InterGalactic Banking Clan, the newly acquired droids were rebranded as the IG-series.

Following the assassination of the Separatist Council orchestrated by the newly appointed Darth Vader, the droids underwent deactivation, although they were not destroyed. Phlut Design Systems retained the blueprints and a small number of droids. The droids bore a striking resemblance to their later counterparts, IG-72 and IG-88, save for the absence of shoulder armor protrusions and less extensive modifications to their torso armor. Utilizing the blueprints and droid bodies as a foundation, The Holowan Technology company, under contract from the Empire and Phlut Design Systems, constructed and introduced the infamous IG-72 and the even more notorious IG-88 series droids.

During the Battle of Muunilinst, IG lancer droids were under the command of Durge. They proved to be formidable adversaries for Jedi General Obi-Wan Kenobi's lancer troopers, successfully destroying almost all of the SPHAs during the engagement. Some were also present at the Battle of Amaltanna, where most were destroyed.
