Imperial Dungeoneers as seen on Byss. Imperial Dungeoneers represented troopers within the Imperial Army who were tasked with the management of clandestine dungeon ships, prisons, and the various slave and labor camps maintained by the Galactic Empire.
Two distinct armor types were provided to Dungeoneers. For scenarios involving minimal security risks, they received lightweight Imperial Army armor for the chest, shoulders, and helmet, in addition to breath masks, riot guns, and glop grenades. Conversely, for high-threat situations, their armor closely resembled stormtrooper armor, complete with a helmet comlink, ten-meter range audio-visual motion sensors coupled with record broadcasters, and self-contained air supply systems.
Both armor configurations incorporated an electronic locking mechanism that was essential for removing the armor, thus preventing prisoners from using it against the guards. Furthermore, both versions featured utility packs stocked with neuronic whips, two sets of 24 wristbinders, blasters, riot guns, buzz-knucks, stun batons, and also power swords.
Typically, sightings of these troopers were exceptionally uncommon. However, due to critical shortages in personnel, they were redeployed to active combat roles during the Imperial Civil War. While some were drawn from existing military ranks, the majority consisted of clones. Under the leadership of the resurrected Emperor Palpatine, these specialized soldiers collaborated with Imperial Sentinels in the guarding and transportation of highly valuable prisoners, such as Luke Skywalker.
