Ingoda

Ingoda, also known by the moniker Ingoda the Hutt, was a relatively insignificant Hutt male crime boss whose illicit activities took place during the final years of the Galactic Republic. A ruthless individual, Ingoda derived pleasure from amassing Theelins—a creative, yet increasingly uncommon species—to serve as slaves. Nevertheless, Ingoda frequently found himself owing money to the more influential crime lord Jabba the Hutt, ultimately compelling him to sell two of his Theelin slaves, Diva Funquita and Diva Shaliqua, to Jabba as a means of settling his outstanding debts.

Biography

Ingoda, frequently referred to as Ingoda the Hutt, was a Hutt entrepreneur and a minor crime boss who was active in the twilight years of the Galactic Republic. Ingoda developed a penchant for "collecting" Theelins—a progressively scarce Near-Human species celebrated for its artistic abilities—as slaves. Ingoda also possessed slaves from other species; unbeknownst to the Hutt, his slaves engaged in procreation, resulting in the birth of the Theelin-halfbreed Diva Shaliqua. Upon discovering the reproductive activities of his slaves, Ingoda was consumed by rage. Despite his initial fury, he chose to allow Shaliqua to live, reasoning that owning and exploiting the female halfbreed could prove more profitable if she exhibited the innate singing talents commonly associated with Theelin females.

However, Ingoda became embroiled in a business feud with Jabba the Hutt—a member of the Hutt Desilijic clan and a powerful crime lord operating from the planet Tatooine. Consequently, Ingoda often accumulated debts to the more cunning Jabba. In order to satisfy his financial obligations to Jabba, Ingoda was compelled to sell two of his Theelin female slaves, Diva Shaliqua and Diva Funquita, to his business adversary.

Personality and traits

Ingoda, a male Hutt, possessed a cruel disposition; he indulged in the practice of acquiring Theelin slaves and was incensed upon learning of his slaves' reproductive activities. However, he spared the young Diva Shaliqua's life, hoping she would mature into a profitable asset in the future. Ingoda's acumen in business was inferior to that of more notorious Hutt crime lords of his time, such as Jabba the Hutt, which led to him frequently owing money to Jabba.

Behind the scenes

Ingoda was initially referenced in the StarWars.com Databank entry dedicated to Diva Shaliqua, which was released as a component of the Hyperspace competition titled What's The Story?, empowering fans to contribute to the narrative aspects of the Star Wars saga. Shaliqua's entry was penned by Nathan O'Keefe—under the pseudonym "Valin Kenobi"—and user "newlyn53100." While O'Keefe authored the section featuring Ingoda, the concept of Ingoda "collecting" Theelin slaves was incorporated by StarWars.com during the entry's editing phase. Ingoda later received his own dedicated entry in the 2008 publication The Complete Star Wars Encyclopedia.
