IRD-A starfighter
The IRD-A starfighter, an acronym standing for **Intercept Reconnaissance Defense, represented an improved iteration of the IRD starfighter utilized by the Corporate Sector's forces.
Features
While the initial IRD model boasted potent engines, dual laser cannons, and the most advanced pilot ejection system available at the time, it lacked a crucial hyperdrive. Consequently, the Authority IRD necessitated transport via larger vessels, such as the Marauder-class corvette or the Victory-class Star Destroyer.
Historical Information

The Corporate Sector Authority engineered the Authority IRD fighter to fulfill a variety of roles within the Picket Fleet. Early versions of the Authority IRD exhibited poor aerodynamic qualities, resulting in subpar performance during atmospheric engagements. This deficiency led many pilots to avoid combat within an atmosphere. This issue was addressed with the development of the Authority IRD-A starfighter, which was specifically deployed in atmospheric battles. The IRD-A incorporated a meticulously shaped fuselage that directed airflow through a vector stabilizer, thereby improving both maneuverability and speed. Furthermore, it was armed with concussion missiles, making it a more formidable adversary than its predecessor.
During Han Solo's tenure in the Corporate Sector, Solo and a group of outlaw techs engaged the new Authority IRD-A fighters, successfully defeating them using early model Z-95 Headhunters. However, this triumph was an exception, and subsequent, more favorable outcomes prompted the Authority to initiate a full-scale production run of the IRD-A.
Several IRD-A fighters were present during Jahan Cross's escape from the Stark Compound located on Etti IV. They pursued him as he fled the facility.
