The Isard family, a group of Humans who were both affluent and powerful, had members who significantly impacted both the Galactic Republic and the succeeding Galactic Empire. A notable figure, Armand Isard, held the position of Director of Republic Intelligence and continued in this role as Director of Imperial Intelligence when the Republic underwent reorganization to become the Empire. Following his death sentence in 0 BBY, Lord Cronal initially took over for Isard, however, his daughter Ysanne Isard eventually assumed the position. Armand Isard also had a brother who served within the ranks of the Republic Navy until his demise during the Stark Hyperspace War in 44 BBY.
