Functioning as a substantial, cave-like aperture within the comet's inner structure, it extended into a tunnel that measured over two kilometers. Its breadth reached upwards of 500 meters at its most expansive point, yet constricted to under 200 meters in certain sections. Every arriving starship was required to navigate through it, with the precise coordinates being communicated to vessels via an external landing beacon. Once a ship successfully traversed the opening, the beacon was deactivated. This safety protocol ensured that the precise whereabouts of the Jackrab Hole remained concealed from unwelcome parties. Deriving its designation from a species of long-eared mammals indigenous to Tatooine, the Jackrab Hole also incorporated shielding technology, preventing the internal atmosphere from escaping into the surrounding vacuum.
