Point Nadir, a shadowport, was situated on the comet known as Resh 9376, found within the Outer Rim. The Anjiliac clan formally established it, building upon the remnants of a base initially constructed by pirate captain Salovan Fische. It served as the central hub for criminal organizations, specifically Epsis and Sable Dawn.

Initially, Point Nadir was erected as the operational headquarters for Corellian pirate captain Salovan Fische. Fische had come across the long-forgotten comet, which had been surveyed centuries prior by astronomers hailing from Corellia. Over a decade, Fische and his pirate crew fashioned a basic facility inside the comet's small, subterranean caverns. Following a string of misfortunes and demoralizing living conditions, Fische's crew betrayed him, abandoning him on the comet to die as a recluse.
Subsequently, the pirates betrayed Fische and sold the location of their established base to the Anjiliac Hutt clan. The Hutts expressed interest in Resh 9376 due to the potential of an existing base. However, using the data was not a priority and was not acted upon for nearly a century. The Hutts leveraged the extensive work completed by the mining droids and equipment, which had continued operating after Fische's demise, until they ceased functioning due to overwork and lack of maintenance. Utilizing their considerable wealth and resources, they transformed Fische's rudimentary complex into a central nexus for various criminal enterprises.
Point Nadir was shrouded in secrecy, and knowledge of its location was either purchased from the Ajiliac kajidic, the de facto rulers of the shadowport, or granted through invitation by one of the two other governing criminal organizations. Point Nadir traffic control meticulously recorded and cataloged all approaching ships. Authorized ships adhered to a strict approach vector and flight path for landing. Ships deviating from the established flight pattern were ordered to halt and were questioned regarding their intentions, frequently at gunpoint by an Anjiliac boarding party. Any vessel failing to comply with flight controller orders received a single warning before being intercepted by defense fighters, which typically destroyed their targets.
A triumvirate of loosely affiliated criminal syndicates governed the shadowport. The Anjiliac clan of Hutts, who constructed Point Nadir upon Salovan Fische's foundation, served as the primary rulers. The other two organizations, Sable Dawn, a group of assassins, and Epsis, a group of black marketeers, money launderers, and slicers, constantly vied for increased control over Point Nadir.
Epsis, with its advanced technology, exerted control over all access to the HoloNet, securing its position as the second-largest entity among Point Nadir's governing bodies. Despite its small numbers, Sable Dawn maintained influence through its shadowy presence throughout the Outer Rim, engaging in political assassinations and espionage. The Anjiliac kajidic held the leading position within the triumvirate due to its wealth and influence as the founders of Point Nadir.

Those permitted to dock at Point Nadir followed a landing beacon through the "Jackrab Hole," a 500-meter-diameter, winding tunnel leading into the comet's interior. The Jackrab Hole opened into Fische's Cove, a vast cavern utilized for ship docking and berthing. To the sides were the "Tethers," the most affordable docking locations before entering the port. Fische's Cove occupied the anterior half of the comet's carved-out interior. The Slips were the luxurious docking berths separating Fische's Cove from the rest of Point Nadir.
The city's layout resembled that of a typical spaceport town, with neighborhoods and districts catering to all social strata, from the poorest to the wealthiest. The Fissure District, the shadowport's slums, was situated at the opposite end of Fische's Cove, housing Point Nadir's most impoverished residents. It separated the city from the mines, which were off-limits by the government. Nest accommodated mercenaries and thugs, where fights and brawls were common. The Ministry Precinct served as the seat of local government, offering the best living conditions, air quality, and security in the shadowport.
Business transactions occurred in either the Trade District or Salovan's Souk. While the Trade District housed permanent businesses, Salovan's Souk, often referred to as "the Souk," was Point Nadir's central marketplace. Resembling a bazaar, the Souk was cramped and crowded, contrasting with the Trade District's wide, straight, and clean streets. The Arcade housed Point Nadir's cantinas and casinos. Notable cantinas included The Cruelest Cut, Fische's Pub, and Under the Table. The two casinos catered to diverse gambling preferences. The Crown Court facilitated betting on various sporting events, from shockboxing to podracing. Lucky's specialized in card and dice games, such as sabacc, and was renowned for its excellent cuisine.
The Utility Ward housed the machinery essential for Point Nadir's operation. Enormous power generators, gravity generators, and life support systems were maintained in this area, located behind the Ministry District. Although formally under the control of the Anjiliac kajidic, several Epsis technicians were employed here. It was the most heavily defended area after the Ministry District.
