Jafan was a planetary colony situated in the Chommell sector of the Mid Rim. The Jafani people had only established their presence in the sector roughly three centuries before the Invasion of Naboo; consequently, the Jafan family, who spearheaded the initial colonization, governed the planet. For approximately three hundred years, Jafan remained isolated until it started engaging in commerce and other interactions with nearby planets, including Naboo. By approximately 32 BBY, approximately three thousand Jafani individuals resided on Naboo, some of whom had migrated there seeking greater success as artists.
Jafan was known for its distinctive artistic expression, where landowners engaged artists to produce expansive and visually striking artworks using natural features like hills or rock formations as their canvas.
