Jallar Golin, a Human male from the Legends continuity, was an Emperor's Hand under the service of Emperor Palpatine during the Galactic Civil War. Originating from the chaotic Outer Rim Territories, Golin eventually enlisted in the Imperial Army on Coruscant, where the Emperor took notice of him. Palpatine mentored Golin in the ways of controlling his rage through the dark side of the Force, transforming him into one of his Hands. With his unwavering focus and strategic mind, Golin proved to be a valuable operative for the Emperor. Subsequently, Palpatine dispatched Golin to investigate a disturbance in the Force on the planet of Yorgraxx. Upon arrival, Golin assessed the surrounding area and traced the disturbance to a Sith fortress, where he encountered a mixed group of Rebel Alliance and Imperial individuals.
Born in the Outer Rim Territories, Jallar Golin was a Force-sensitive Human male. In his early years, Golin struggled to survive on the fringes of civilization. Eventually, he journeyed to Coruscant, where he garnered the attention of Emperor Palpatine. After a period in the Imperial Army, Golin was ultimately trained by Palpatine in the dark side of the Force to become one of his Emperor's Hands—an exclusive group of Dark Jedi operatives who answered only to the Emperor.
Sometime after the Battle of Yavin, Palpatine sensed a disturbance in the Force resulting from the awakening of the spirit of the ancient Sith Lord Quorlac Fornayh on the planet Yorgraxx. Palpatine promptly summoned Golin to his private chambers within the Imperial Palace and tasked him with investigating the disturbance's origin and retrieving it. Golin journeyed to Yorgraxx aboard a Lambda-class T-4a shuttle, landing in a small valley approximately twenty-five kilometers from the disturbance's source: an ancient Sith fortress. Disembarking from his ship, he surveyed the immediate area before returning to the shuttle's cockpit. There, he consulted a map display and a sensor readout, adding details about the surrounding area. This allowed him to pinpoint the disturbance's origin and determine the optimal route. Golin then retrieved a modified 22-B Nightfalcon speeder bike from the shuttle's cargo hold and set off eastward towards the Sith base.
As Golin neared the base's entrance, he encountered a combined group of Rebel Alliance and Imperial personnel exiting the fortress. Assuming the Imperials had captured the Rebels and were in control, he ordered one of them, Lieutenant Arran Flekk, to provide an update on the situation.
Jallar Golin's upbringing instilled in him a significant amount of animosity towards most individuals. Emperor Palpatine fostered this hatred, recognizing that while it made Golin somewhat impulsive, it also deepened his connection to the dark side. He served Palpatine out of both loyalty and apprehension, sharing a subtle connection with his master through the Force. As an Emperor's Hand, Golin typically wore all black and was known for being ruthless, arrogant, and highly competent. He was unwavering in his commitment to any assigned task and maintained a perfect record of success. He employed precise methods, believing that the indiscriminate use of force was ineffective in most scenarios. Golin possessed a highly paranoid nature and was suspicious of nearly everyone; he made it a habit to verify every piece of information he received before accepting it as fact and was unlikely to be deceived by any fabrication if he had reason to doubt the individual providing the information. Golin was meticulous in his work, projecting a menacing presence and an aura of authority to those around him.
Palpatine trained Jallar Golin to channel his hatred through the dark side of the Force. He became skilled in numerous Force abilities within the domains of Control and Alter, including affect mind, Force strike, Force healing, and telekinesis. He excelled particularly in the Hatred ability, enabling him to emit palpable waves of hatred from his body towards anyone in close proximity. Golin also possessed extensive knowledge of astrogation and received training in the use of both blaster pistols and blaster rifles.
Jallar Golin was a character created for the Star Wars Roleplaying Game adventure titled Shadows in the Force, authored by Robert Wiese and released in 2004. Within the adventure, players assume the roles of a diverse group of Rebels and Imperials stranded on Yorgraxx, with Golin's ultimate fate determined entirely by their interaction with him. Players must either negotiate or engage in combat with him to resolve their situation, or simply attempt to escape. Should they choose or be forced to fight him, Golin will attempt to create distance between himself and the players using his speeder bike, employing his blasters in conjunction with his Force powers. If any players approach him or he finds himself at a disadvantage, Golin will use his Hatred ability. If the situation deteriorates further, he will retreat and secretly stalk the players, striking only when they are vulnerable. If Golin is killed, Palpatine will sense his death through the Force and dispatch Darth Vader to continue the investigation on Yorgraxx in his stead.
