Jason Wingreen (October 9, 1920 – December 25, 2015) originally provided the voice for Boba Fett. This was before Temuera Morrison re-recorded the lines for the Special Edition DVD release of The Empire Strikes Back.
Born on October 9, 1920 in Brooklyn, New York, Wingreen's voice was used for Boba Fett in both the original theatrical release and the 1997 re-release of Star Wars: Episode V The Empire Strikes Back. However, in the 2004 DVD version of Episode V, his voice was replaced with that of Temuera Morrison, who also played Jango Fett and the clone troopers in Star Wars: Episode II Attack of the Clones.
Wingreen is perhaps most recognized for his portrayal of Harry Snowden on the popular sitcom All in the Family and its spin-off, Archie Bunker's Place. He played this role from 1977 to 1983.
Earlier in his career, Wingreen had a regular role as Police Captain Dorsett during the 1960-61 season of The Untouchables. He also appeared in two episodes of the original Twilight Zone series, titled "A Stop at Willoughby" and "The Midnight Sun." Furthermore, he made an appearance on the original Star Trek series, making him one of the few individuals to have worked on both Star Wars and Star Trek. Wingreen also had a recurring role as Judge Arthur Beaumont on Matlock, and he guest-starred in many other series, such as Mission: Impossible, The Outer Limits, Bonanza, The Rockford Files, and The Fugitive. He was also a member of the cast of the critically acclaimed TV mini-series Roots: The Next Generations in 1979.
Wingreen died at his home on December 25, 2015, at the age of 95.
