Jauxson

Jauxson, a Gotal who held the rank of captain, commanded a gang of pirates. This group conducted operations on the planet known as Clak'dor VII. Having spent his formative years and early career with various pirate organizations throughout the galaxy since childhood, Jauxson eventually broke away to establish his own crew. Eventually, he and his band transitioned from raiding in space to focusing on ground-based operations on Clak'dor VII, the homeworld of the Bith species. Jauxson and his crew targeted three domed Bith cities. They gained entry by threatening the destruction of the domes, which would expose the inhabitants to the planet's hostile atmosphere. During the time of the Galactic Civil War, two citizens from the city of Buerhoz employed a group of spacers to bring Jauxson's activities to a halt. The confrontation between the Gotal and his crew, the spacers, and the local army resulted in the pirates' defeat and Jauxson's removal from power.

Biography

As a male Gotal, Jauxson dedicated his early years to serving under various pirate leaders, including some of the galaxy's most infamous and feared figures in the galaxy. He eventually rose to become the leader of his own pirate gang, which consisted of twenty members. This group traversed the spacelanes before tiring of such raids and relocating to the planet of Clak'dor VII. They established a temporary base in a mountainous region near the domed city of Buerhoz, utilizing environment suits and breathers to protect themselves from the harsh atmosphere of Clak'dor VII. They selected Buerhoz and two other cities as their primary targets, raiding them on a weekly basis.

Typically, Jauxson's gang would spend two days per week at their camp before swiftly traveling to their intended raid site on swoops and speeder bikes in groups of ten or fewer. Upon reaching the target city, Jauxson and his crew demanded entry into the dome, threatening to destroy it and expose the citizens to the toxic atmosphere outside. The Bith citizens generally complied. Once inside, the Gotal pirate and his crew would raid the population centers, roaming the streets and often stealing foodstuffs and alcoholic beverages, among other items. Jauxson responded to any hesitation from the Bith with violent acts, including hostage-taking. These raids disrupted city commerce and forced the populations to live in constant fear.

During the Galactic Civil War, two Bith citizens of Buerhoz, weary of Jauxson's predations, enlisted a group of spacers to assist them in gathering a small army to repel the Gotal and his bandits and liberate the city. When a raiding party encountered this resistance, they retreated to their camp to gather reinforcements. Jauxson and his crew returned to Buerhoz with a larger force, but the spacers had also assembled more combatants to confront them. During the ensuing battle, Jauxson and his men were defeated, and the Gotal captain was overthrown.

Personality and traits

Jauxson was a formidable pirate, known for his relentless raids on Bith cities. His threats to destroy the cities' protective domes, thereby exposing the inhabitants to Clak'dor VII's unforgiving atmosphere, instilled fear in the Bith, compelling them to comply with his demands and grant him free rein within their population centers. During these raids, Jauxson considered the property of his victims as his own; he and his gang moved freely through the streets, seizing whatever they desired, particularly food and alcohol. Jauxson's ruthlessness was also evident in his response to any Bith resistance: he met such acts with violence and abduction.

Behind the scenes

Jauxson makes an appearance in "A Fistful of Credits," an adventure scenario penned by Bill Olmesdahl and released by West End Games in 1992 as part of the Star Wars Gamemaster Screen. The adventure outline presents the player characters as the offworlders hired by the Bith of Buerhoz to drive back Jauxson and his forces, though it remains ambiguous whether they definitively ended Jauxson's operations. However, Jauxson's entry in The Complete Star Wars Encyclopedia, published in 2008 by Del Rey, confirms that the Gotal pirate captain was indeed defeated by these spacers and removed from his leadership position.

Variants and customization options allow the gamemaster to introduce additional characters to the scenario, one of whom is "the Heroine." This character is depicted as a self-sufficient woman determined to resist the bandits. Her description implies that Jauxson is infatuated with her and that his crimes are motivated by a desire to possess her. Another variant suggests that Jauxson might challenge one of the characters to a "fair fight," reminiscent of scenes in films set in the American Old West.
