Jielu served in the Alliance Military's 4th Squad, led by Corporal Jobin, during their conflict with the Galactic Empire. As the Battle of Hoth commenced in 3 ABY, he found himself stationed at Echo Station 5-7. It wasn't long before they discovered Imperial forces were assaulting the ion cannon. Jobin instructed him to remain and defend the South Entrance of Echo Base, while Jobin and a few others went to the ion cannon.
