Jocoro Desilijic Tiure, a Hutt, rose to the position of a crime lord within the Desilijic kajidic sometime after the Battle of Endor, which took place in 4 ABY. In the years following that battle, Jocoro operated a small criminal enterprise, using a base located on the planet Du Hutta. Following Jabba Desilijic Tiure's death at the Battle of the Great Pit of Carkoon on Tatooine, which also occurred in 4 ABY's, one of Jabba's former bodyguards, the Klatooinian named Umpass-stay, began working for Jocoro on Du Hutta.
The character of Jocoro initially appeared in the Star Wars Trilogy Sourcebook, Special Edition, a 1997 supplement for Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game by West End Games. He was first referred to as "Jocoro" in "Who's Who in the Max Rebo Band," an article penned by Rich Handley for the sixty-seventh issue of Star Wars Insider magazine, released on April 15, 2003. Later, in 2008, The Complete Star Wars Encyclopedia identified the Hutt with his full name, Jocoro Desilijic Tiure.
