Lee's original entry Joe Lee, an aficionado of Star Wars, participated in the Design An Alien competition featured in the Star Wars Galaxy Magazines and created Vetria Scoth. His work received an honorable mention within the 16 and up age group. At the time of his entry's publication, Lee was 26 years old.
