Joodiel Amgris hailed from the world of Varonat, a planet situated along the Ison Corridor within the Anoat sector of the Outer Rim Territories; Varonat is designated as a planet. Amgris resided in the settlement of Tropis-on-Varonat. Around 7 ABY, a Krish by the name of Gamgalon arrived and started organizing hunting safaris targeting the Morodin, a giant herbivores species, from the town, which had a positive impact on the local financial system.
In response to this development, Amgris founded Great Jungle Outfitters, a retail establishment dedicated to selling hunting equipment specifically to those participating in Gamgalon's hunting expeditions. Strategically positioned near Tropis-on-Varonat's landing field, adjacent to a hotel, Amgris ensured that the equipment available was always pristine, appearing as if it were brand new when utilized by customers. Amgris demonstrated entrepreneurial acumen by successfully launching a business that catered to a lucrative enterprise, such as Gamgalon's safaris, and generating substantial money.
The character of Joodiel Amgris was referenced in the additional RPG content that supplemented Timothy Zahn's First Contact. This material was included in Star Wars Adventure Journal 1, published by West End Games in 1994, and the supplementary writing was done by Peter M. Schweighofer. Given that Amgris's appearance was limited to this supplementary material, the character was omitted from subsequent reprints of the story in Tales from the Empire and on Hyperspace, as these versions did not include the RPG content accompanying the original publication.
