Jostrans were a sapient species originating from the world of Munlali Mafir. These arthropods, resembling sluggish centipedes, could attain sizes comparable to the limb of a Human. The arrival of the sentient planet Zonama Sekot in their stellar neighborhood led to extended seismic and volcanic events, nearly obliterating their entire civilization.
Despite the widespread devastation, a small group of Jostrans endured. Their survival was made possible by evolving a symbiotic relationship with the indigenous Krizlaw species. They would crawl into the mouths of the Krizlaws and then burrow into their abdominal cavities. Once inside, they would encircle the spine, utilizing their legs and delicate hairs to penetrate neural tissues and seize control of the host's body.
This peculiar arrangement resulted in a composite species with two distinct minds: an intelligent, dominant "rider" and a basic, animalistic consciousness. Jedi tracking Zonama Sekot's path into the Unknown Regions quickly discovered the difficulty in influencing these beings. This was due to the significant disparity between the two minds, as well as the Krizlaws' inherent tendency to form hunting groups of eleven hive-connected minds.
