Now at the age of eleven, Anakin Solo is on his way to the Jedi academy! He possesses a powerful connection to the Force, which he can sense. His uncle, Luke, believes the time has come for him to commence his training...
Uldir, a fellow student of Anakin's at the Jedi academy, desires to become a Jedi above all else. However, he struggles to even levitate a feather using the Force. He believes he has discovered a method to accelerate his learning: the Holocron.
The Holocron is depicted as a cube containing all the ancient wisdom of the Jedi Masters. Uldir is convinced that by "borrowing" this artifact, along with Obi-Wan Kenobi's lightsaber, he can rapidly transform himself into a formidable Jedi Knight!
Consequently, Anakin—accompanied by Tahiri, R2-D2, Tionne, and the Jedi Master Ikrit—finds himself in a race across the galaxy to locate Uldir. Failure to do so could result in Uldir's demise, and the potential for Kenobi's blade and the Holocron to fall into the clutches of a truly malevolent individual...
Tionne extends an invitation to Anakin, Tahiri, and Uldir, inviting them to partake in the exploration of the lessons contained within the Holocron they acquired from Bast Castle. Asli Krimsan, the Jedi Master residing within the Holocron, imparts information regarding a Jedi Library situated on Exis Station. Uldir recognizes this location as the place from which the Mage Orloc claimed to originate. Tionne discloses that she and Luke had previously explored the station several years prior, only to discover that the library was no longer present. As the Holocron deactivates, Tionne and Ikrit resolve to defer the decision regarding its further use to Luke upon his return from Coruscant, rather than continuing with the lessons. Uldir expresses his frustration with this decision, as he feels his progress in the Force is not advancing at a sufficient pace.
Later that night, Uldir experiences a dream centered around the Holocron and Exis Station. Upon awakening, he is plagued by doubts regarding his ability to become a Jedi Knight, given his continued inability to wield the Force as effectively as his peers. He concludes that he must utilize the Holocron to enhance his learning. Uldir stealthily enters Luke's unoccupied bedroom and pilfers the Holocron and Obi-Wan Kenobi's lightsaber. After failing to activate the Holocron, Uldir resolves to locate Orloc on Exis Station, hoping that the Mage can provide him with instruction. Uldir then steals Ikrit's ship, the Sunrider, and departs for Exis Station.
Employing the skills he acquired from his parents, who worked as cargo ship pilots, Uldir successfully arrives at Exis Station. Upon arrival, he is swiftly apprehended by a group of droids and Ranats serving Orloc. They escort him to Orloc, who agrees to train Uldir in exchange for the Holocron and the lightsaber. Orloc is also unsuccessful in activating the Holocron. Humiliated by this failure, he instead decides to instruct Uldir in the ways of the Force. Guided by Orloc's instructions, Uldir seemingly demonstrates the ability to turn on lights, lift heavy plasteel slabs, and even summon thunder, lightning, and rain.
The day following his escape, Tahiri discovers Uldir's absence. That same night, Tionne, Ikrit, Anakin, Tahiri, and Artoo embark on a journey aboard Tionne's ship, the Lore Seeker, with the intention of locating Uldir at Exis Station. Upon disembarking from the ship, they are ambushed by Orloc's droids. The group retreats further into the station. Artoo aids their escape by leading them up a ladder, but is subsequently left behind and captured. Following a brief respite in a supply hold, the group encounters a gathering of Ranats. They are spotted and swiftly defeat several Ranats, causing the remaining ones to flee.
Anakin guides the group through an air duct towards Uldir's location. They discover him and Orloc surrounded by Orloc's Ranat servants, with Artoo held captive by a restraining bolt. While positioned in the air duct, Anakin and Tahiri realize that Uldir's displays of thunder, lightning, and rain are merely illusions created through the use of speakers, flickering lights, and safety sprinklers. Upon this realization, the air duct grate collapses, causing the group to fall into the room below. Uldir angrily confronts them, demanding that they leave him unharmed. Tionne requests the return of the stolen items, and Anakin and Tahiri implore Uldir to return with them. They attempt to demonstrate that his supposed Force powers are simply Orloc's tricks, but Uldir refuses to believe them. Orloc asserts that the children are lying and commands his forces to attack them.
Anakin, Tahiri, Tionne, and Ikrit manage to escape into Orloc's laboratory, where he fabricates all of his magic tricks. Orloc, the Ranats, and his droids pursue them, and Orloc orders them to engage in combat. Ikrit encounters Uldir as he enters with Artoo and attempts to convince him that Orloc is merely utilizing technology to perform his magic. Uldir remains unconvinced and simply observes the ensuing battle.
Orloc instructs his forces to target Tionne first. Anakin and Tahiri employ the Force to hurl debris at the droids attacking her, successfully destroying several of them. Orloc activates an electric trap, electrocuting Tionne and inflicting severe injuries upon her. Anakin and Tahiri assist her in seeking cover from the remaining droids. Anakin retrieves Tionne's lightsaber and throws it to Ikrit. Ikrit activates the blade and advances towards Orloc, who is wielding Obi-Wan Kenobi's lightsaber. Ikrit swiftly disarms Orloc.
Uldir finally comprehends that Orloc has been deceiving him and that his magic is not genuine. He charges towards the final assassin droid that is targeting them. He manages to drape his Jedi robes over the droid, obscuring its sensors, but is struck in the shoulder. Anakin and Tahiri utilize the Force to smash the droid against the laboratory wall, disabling it.
Anakin summons Obi-Wan's lightsaber to himself and advances towards Orloc. He severs the silver spangles on Orloc's robes, recognizing them as the source of his "magic." Orloc swiftly escapes the room in a cloud of smoke, but the group decides to allow him to depart. The group recovers both Obi-Wan's lightsaber and the Holocron. Uldir guides the group back to the Lore Seeker and pilots the ship back to Yavin 4.
One week later, Uldir has packed his belongings and is preparing to leave the Jedi academy. He realizes that he genuinely enjoys flying, but not the cargo shuttle flying that his parents do. He informs Anakin and Tahiri that he intends to become an emergency pilot on Coruscant, assisting people during disasters, piloting old or challenging ships, and delivering essential medical supplies. Uldir is pleased that he will be helping others, much like the Jedi do. Luke comforts Uldir, assuring him that his actions aboard Exis Station demonstrate his trust in the Force and that he may have indeed learned to utilize the Force to some extent.
