The Novaldex-produced JV-80 ion drive represented a specific model of ion drive. While Novaldex was its manufacturer, the JV-80 ion drive found greater application within the Corellian Engineering Corporation's C-ROC Gozanti-class light cruiser, proving to be a more advanced and effective alternative to the earlier Ter58 ion engine. The replacement of the Ter58 engines with five JV-80 ion drives on the C-ROC led to considerable enhancements in both velocity and overall operational capability.
