The Kallakea system was situated within the Authala sector, which itself resided in the Slice region of the larger Expansion Region. It served as the place of origin for the natural wonder known as the Kallakean rainbows.
The system of Kallakea initially appeared in the 1990 roleplaying game source article, "Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star, How I Wonder Where We Are," found in the thirteenth issue of the magazine Voyages SF. This article incorrectly stated that the system was in the Heterkus sector and falsely claimed it was mentioned in Strike Force: Shantipole, a 1988 roleplaying adventure by West End Games for Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game. Because this article bypassed the official Lucas Licensing channels, its canonicity within the Star Wars Legends continuity remained unconfirmed. Later, in 2009, The Essential Atlas, a reference book by Daniel Wallace and [Jason Fry], placed the Kallakea system in grid square P-12. The StarWars.com Online Companion to the book then superseded the Voyages SF 13 location, situating the system in the Authala sector instead.
