Karena
Karena, a Jedi scholar of the female persuasion, is credited with originating the phrase praxeum as a descriptor for a Jedi academy. Essentially, the term signified a location dedicated to "the refining of knowledge via practical application."
The Making Of
The term Jedi Praxeum, which essentially translates to "a location where action is learned", was conceptualized by the writer Karen Anderson, taking inspiration from the Latinized form of the Greek term praxeion, itself derived from the word praxis. Initially, the word temple which came from Shaolin Temple and is now frequently used for Jedi temples was considered, but ultimately not chosen. Alternative terms such as Academy, Lyceum, Stoas, Seminary, Campus, cloister, quad, Monastery, dojo, Cadre, Laboratory, and Dynurgy were also evaluated and dismissed.
