Kariek, a planet situated in Wild Space, was inhabited by only one native sentient species: the Eickarie. These people were organized into several different tribes. The Eickaries themselves were humanoid and reptilian in nature, exhibiting green and orange skin marked by black scales encircling their eyes and extending across the rear of their heads.
The cities of Kariek were characterized by imposing fortresses and lookout towers, linked together by an intricate system of subterranean passageways.

The Eickarie were once a divided population. For hundreds of years, their tribes engaged in prolonged and devastating internal conflicts. However, in 28 BBY, a mercenary force of Lakran, commanded by an enigmatic individual called the Warlord, invaded and seized control of the planet.
In 22 ABY, the Warlord was overthrown in a joint effort conducted by the United Tribes of Kariek in conjunction with the Empire of the Hand. Subsequently, Kariek allied itself with the Empire of the Hand, forming commercial and defensive relationships to protect against future invaders.
