Kaump III was a planet of the Mid Rim, situated within the Bruanii sector. The strong gravity of this world resulted in its native species developing a stocky build and diminished height. Chanchaz Iryt, the pirate and mercenary, first saw life on Kaump III, and later departed his homeworld following a string of profitable robberies within a wealthy district of a local city.
Commonly referred to as Kaump, Kaump III was a terrestrial planet with significant gravity, holding the third orbital position within the Kaump system. This system was located within the Bruanii sector in the Western Reaches region of the Mid Rim.
Chanchaz Iryt, who would become a mercenary and pirate, began his existence on Kaump III. As a member of the species native to the planet, Iryt dedicated his early years to studying the mechanics of repulsorlift technology. During the night, he frequented some of his homeworld's seedier nightclubs, where he learned the arts of brawling and intimidation. He eventually found himself working on engines, while simultaneously robbing intoxicated individuals and disoriented tourists to earn drink money. However, Iryt soon came to believe he was destined for something greater. He then executed a series of highly successful and well-known robberies in a prosperous area of a local city, and consequently, at some point by the time of the Galactic Civil War, departed Kaump III aboard a luxury liner bound for Bespin, a planet in the Outer Rim Territories.
Kaump III received a mention in "Iron Hands, Captive Hearts," an article written by Joe Littrell for roleplaying purposes, designed for use with Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game by West End Games. It was featured in the sixty-eighth issue of the Polyhedron magazine, published in February of 1992. In the 2009 reference book, The Essential Atlas, the Kaump system, and therefore Kaump III, was placed within grid square K-17.
