Kerlo, a hoodlum in the employ of the Defel crime lord Shoto Eyefire, who ran Horn Station, was a criminal. Due to his violent disposition, this thug and hired gun was frequently embroiled in altercations.
On one occasion, Kerlo insisted that a man he took to be an itinerant miner hand over some credits, and when the man refused, Kerlo challenged him to a blaster duel. Unbeknownst to Kerlo, the miner was actually an undercover Jedi Knight, who swiftly defeated him, felling the thug with a blaster shot before Kerlo could even draw his weapon.
Kerlo lived through this encounter, and the event was quickly brought to Eyefire's attention. His loss intrigued Eyefire, leading him to challenge the newcomer himself, a choice that eventually brought about his demise.
