The kirruk, a four-legged reptilian species, originated on the planet Ossus. After the Cron Supernova devastated their homeworld, the Ysanna people domesticated these creatures. The Ysanna gave them the name "kirruk" because it sounded like the noise they made, and they used them as riding animals.
