Kleyn Selid

Kleyn Selid held the rank of officer within the Imperial Army of the Galactic Empire. He was in charge of Mount Tantiss located on the planet of Wayland, approximately five years following the Battle of Endor.

Biography

Despite his youth, Selid held a significant rank. He felt considerable annoyance when Grand Admiral Thrawn tasked him with the temporary command of the Mount Tantiss garrison, responsible for safeguarding Emperor Palpatine's clandestine repository. Selid yearned to lead soldiers in active combat scenarios, rather than being confined to administrative duties, a role he derisively referred to as glorified "baby-sitting."

As the Thrawn campaign against the New Republic neared its conclusion, the Grand Admiral began to perceive the clone Dark Jedi Joruus C'baoth as a potential liability. Consequently, he didn't object when the deranged clone abandoned the fleet with the intention of establishing his own "Empire" from Wayland. Upon arrival, C'baoth manipulated General Freja Covell, who was intended to relieve Selid of his command, into a dependent state. This influence diminished due to the presence of ysalamiri throughout the mountain facility, ultimately leading to Covell's demise. The day following the general's arrival, Selid received notification from an orderly about Covell's death. He immediately dispatched a medical unit to investigate. The team discovered that substantial portions of Covell's brain had inexplicably ceased functioning. Without delay, Selid contacted the Chimaera and reported the situation, including the events of the previous day, directly to Grand Admiral Thrawn. Thrawn then instructed Selid to apprehend and confine C'baoth, and to prevent Covell's personal detachment of soldiers from entering the facility. Despite his reservations regarding the order to bar the soldiers, he followed instructions. Nevertheless, he experienced satisfaction when Thrawn reinstated him to his position as garrison commander.
