Breakout Squad returned to Coruscant, where Kungurama confronted [Ring-Sol Ambase](link to ring-sol ambase article), his missing master. Later, Knuckles and Breakout Squad were assigned to investigate the vanishing of the [Spice Siren](link to spice siren article). Knuckles and his squad then collaborated with Kungurama on a mission to escort [Noggox](link to noggox), the [Hutt's](link to hutt article) [freighter](link to freighter article), to [Fondor](link to fondor article). Knuckles, a [clone](link to cloning-legends article) of the [Human](link to human-legends article) [bounty hunter](link to bounty_hunter-legends article) [Jango Fett](link to jango_fett-legends article) and a [soldier](link to soldier-legends article) in the [Grand Army of the Republic](link to grand_army_of_the_republic-legends article), was a [clone trooper](link to clone_trooper-legends article) serving the [Galactic Republic](link to galactic_republic-legends article). He stood at a height of 1.83 [meters](link to meter-legends article) during the [Clone Wars](link to clone_wars-legends article). His [black](link to color-legends article) hair was kept short. In [21 BBY](link to 21_bby-legends article), he was tasked with an [investigation](link to mission_to_kynachi article) on the [planet](link to planet-legends article) of [Kynachi](link to kynachi article) alongside [Jedi Master](link to jedi_master-legends article) [Ring-Sol Ambase](link to ring-sol_ambase article). During their journey, the clones engaged in a push-up contest, which Knuckles easily won. Their [ship](link to starship-legends article) was ambushed and destroyed by [Vulture](link to vulture-class_starfighter-legends article) [droid](link to droid-legends article) [starfighters](link to starfighter-legends article). The surviving [troopers](link to trooper-legends article), along with Ambase's stowaway [Padawan](link to padawan-legends article), [Nuru Kungurama](link to nuru_kungurama article), made their way to the surface in an [escape pod](link to escape_pod-legends article). Ultimately, they liberated the [world](link to planet-legends article) from the [Techno Union](link to techno_union-legends article) and [Overseer](link to overseer-legends article) [Umbrag](link to umbrag article), earning the name [Breakout Squad](link to breakout_squad article). They secured [transport](link to transport-legends article) back to [Coruscant](link to coruscant-legends article) with [Captain](link to captain-legends article) [Lalo Gunn](link to lalo_gunn article) and her ship, the Hasty Harpy.
While en route, they received instructions from [Supreme Chancellor](link to supreme_chancellor-legends article) [Palpatine](link to palpatine-legends article) to proceed to the [Chiss Ascendancy](link to chiss_ascendancy-legends article) for a meeting at [Defense Station](link to defense_fleet_command article) [Ifpe'a](link to ifpe%27a article). There, they met with [Aristocra](link to aristocra-legends article) [Sev'eere'nuruodo](link to sev%27eere%27nuruodo article), the [Chiss](link to chiss-legends article) [representative](link to diplomat-legends article), to discuss a possible alliance, rescuing her from a Techno Union attack led by Overseer Umbrag. After jumping into [hyperspace](link to hyperspace-legends article), they were trapped near a [black hole](link to black_hole-legends article) alongside [Hethra Mcgrrrr's](link to hethra_mcgrrrr-legends article) [pirate gang](link to black_hole_gang-legends article). Kungurama and Breakout Squad managed to find an ancient [Infinity Gate](link to infinity_gate article) with the help of a pair of [Sullustan](link to sullustan-legends article) [xenoarchaeologists](link to archaeology-legends article) and used it to escape the black hole. The Aristocra returned home, and Breakout Squad resumed their journey to Coruscant.
During the journey back to Coruscant, Breakout Squad received another communication from Chancellor Palpatine, directing them to [divert](link to mission_to_vaced article) to [Vaced](link to vaced-legends article) to meet [Commissioner](link to commissioner_(kynachi) article) [Langu Sommilor](link to langu_sommilor article) of Kynachi and escort him to the [galactic](link to the_galaxy-legends article) capital. Breakout Squad arrived ahead of the Commissioner and met him upon his arrival, but he was swiftly [assassinated](link to assassin-legends article) by a [sniper](link to sniper-legends article). Kungurama instructed Knuckles and Breakout Squad to secure the perimeter, while he pursued the sniper. The clones boarded Gunn's ship, while Kungurama used a [swoop](link to swoop-legends article) bike. The sniper, a [Mandalorian](link to mandalorian-legends article), outfought Kungurama and reached his [transport](link to hudu_shiv%27s_pursuer-class_enforcement_ship article). He then engaged the Hasty Harpy, causing both ships to crash and leading to his apparent [death](link to death-legends article). After Breakout Squad and Gunn parted ways, Kungurama discovered an imagecaster, which led Breakout Squad to take Sommilor's [freighter](link to freighter-legends article) to [Bilbringi Depot](link to bilbringi_depot article), where they clashed with Umbrag again and recaptured the depot.

Breakout Squad completed their investigation of the Depot, discovering that the Sommilor who had been killed on Vaced was an [impostor](link to langu_sommilor_(impostor) article); the real Sommilor was found captive in the freighter's hold. Knuckle's squadmate [Chatterbox](link to chatterbox article) had been wounded in the fight, and clone [medics](link to medic-legends article) arrived to treat him, with the rest of Breakout Squad donating [blood](link to blood-legends article). The squad then returned to Coruscant with Sommilor. During their hyperspace travel, Umbrag managed to grab Kungurama and wound their ally [Gizz](link to gizman article), but was shot in the attempt. Knuckles provided first aid to Gizz. Upon arriving on Coruscant, Jedi Master [Harro Kelpura](link to harro_kelpura article) rerouted their freighter from the [Jedi Temple](link to jedi_temple-legends article) to his lab in [Dacho District](link to dacho_district article), which had been broken into. The ship was then damaged by a collision with a [dropship](link to sleight_of_hand article) belonging to a [bounty hunter](link to bounty_hunter-legends article). The crash knocked out several passengers and cracked Knuckle's helmet. The ship managed to take off and escape, and Kungurama confronted his missing master with Knuckle's assistance. Five days later, Breakout Squad was tasked with investigating the disappearance of the freighter [Spice Siren](link to spice_siren-legends article), which was carrying munitions.
Breakout Squad was next assembled for a mission to escort [Noggox](link to noggox), the [Hutt's](link to hutt-legends article) freighter, to [Fondor](link to fondor-legends article). Upon arriving at the rendezvous on [Affa](link to affa-legends article), they discovered the remnants of a massacre. They continued their mission to Fondor, where they [defeated](link to skirmish_at_the_fondor_shipyards article) the [pirate](link to pirate-legends article) [Dool Pundar](link to dool_pundar article). There, Gizz befriended a blind [Twi'lek](link to twi%27lek-legends article), [Kuvuta Pindi](link to kuvuta_pindi article). Kungurama agreed to assist her in escorting orphaned [younglings](link to youngling-legends article) to [Foless](link to foless-legends article). Once there, they realized Pindi was attempting to steal the orphans and gave chase. Breakout Squad captured Pundar and freed the younglings, but Pindi was killed.
Knuckles' dedication to push-ups was so intense that a fellow clone remarked he even did them in his sleep. He wore [Phase I clone trooper armor](link to phase_i_clone_trooper_armor-legends article) adorned with [gray](link to color-legends article) Breakout Squad markings and utilized a [DC-15S](link to dc-15s-legends article).
Knuckles made an appearance in Star Wars: The Clone Wars: Secret Missions, a young readers series by [Ryder Windham](link to ryder_windham). His initial depiction, along with Breakout Squad, was in the comic [The Clone Wars: Opress Unleashed](link to opress_unleashed), released in [2011](link to 2011) for [Free Comic Book Day](link to free_comic_book_day) and later included in the comic The Clone Wars: Strange Allies.
