Kossak the Younger, a Hutt of the Galactic Republic era, existed roughly 700 years prior to the Battle of Yavin.
Kossak was convinced of his lineage tracing back to Kossak the Mighty, a Hutt general who fought against Xim the Despot millennia before. Lacking any proof of this connection, Kossak hired Direus'pei, a Hutt playwright, to create a play about Kossak the Mighty. In this play, the general was to mention a "future nephew." Kossak the Younger's hope was that this would evolve into a lasting myth, thus solidifying his supposed heritage from Kossak the Mighty.
Direus'pei toiled on the project for an extended period, and eventually, Kossak's patience wore thin. He confiscated the unfinished play and commanded Direus'pei to perform it before his court. However, Kossak was enraged by the performance. The play contained no references to Kossak's alleged ancestry and depicted Kossak the Mighty as a fool. Direus'pei had disregarded historical accuracy and instead used the play to critique the Hutt's oppression of the Evocii species. In a fit of fury, Kossak ordered Direus'pei and all copies of the play to be destroyed by Maltorran protoplasm, ensuring their complete annihilation.
Ro Vacca, Direus'pei's scribe, managed to escape with a draft of the play and disseminated it, sparking rebellions among several of the Hutt's client species. The uprising was quickly suppressed, and Kossak, for his role in instigating it, was sentenced to death by acid transfusion by the Hutt Grand Council. As a reminder to other Hutts about the dangers of fabricating their family history, jars containing Kossak's remains were placed on a rotating display in the main terminal of Qedriga spaceport on the planet Nal Hutta.
