Kote ky'ram

A kote ky'ram The Mandalorian death ceremony, also called the kote ky'ram, represented an ancient funerary rite practiced by the Mandalorian culture. It was bestowed upon warriors who had died with exceptional valor.

Kote ky'ram, when translated from the Mandalorian language called Mando'a into Galactic Basic, signifies "glory death." It was typically reserved for warriors who perished in combat against Jedi or against overwhelming odds.

During the death ceremony, the deceased warrior's body was positioned atop a raised pyre. This was done to help ensure their spirit could join the spirits of other exemplary Mandalorians.

As the deceased was cremated, those of the clan shouted both war cries and accounts of the fallen comrade's heroic acts to the heavens. Following this, a night of drunken revelry and feasting commenced to honor the warrior.

By the time of the Galactic War, only one individual outside of the Mandalorian culture had received this honor: the Sith Lord known as Raze. He earned it by rescuing a Mandalorian clan single-handedly from twenty Jedi during a battle that took place on the planet of Dantooine.
